A wonderful colourful Sikh Wedding extravaganza

Sukhey & Jamie celebrated their marriage with not one but TWO wedding days this year! The first wedding day you can read all about here and I’m delighted to share with you this riot of colour, music and dancing that was their Sikh wedding celebrations. And my word – what an overload of gorgeousness it was too. My first Indian wedding, and I loved every minute of it!

Celebrations started at Sukhey’s family home in Slough with the pre-wedding party the day before – which included many important rituals including the traditional cleansing rituals and the bangle ritual – and then the Jaggo ceremony, which was a great big party into the early hours for both sides of the family! What a superb way to kick off the celebrations! The Sikh wedding day itself was an explosion of colour and music. Sukhey started getting ready at 3am (!!!) and I couldn’t believe just how stunning she looked – like an actual Indian princess. Sukhey & Jamie had their ceremony at the Singh Sabha Gurdwara in Slough, which had a such a brilliant welcoming atmosphere. After the ceremony – the Anand Karaj – the wedding party made their way over to the Windsor Racecourse to continue the party. Dhol drummers, traditional Indian dancers, AMAZING food and lots and lots of smiles and laughter saw the wedding continue in style. It was such a brilliant experience, and thank you so much Mr & Mrs Dhariwal-Hodgson for letting me a part of it all!
