The thing I love about weddings is that each one is completely unique – couples plan their day their way, so there is always so much variety. But full kudos for following their hearts has to go to today’s lovely couple Karin & Chris who secretly hotfooted it to Brighton to get married in secret! Yes!! A romantic elopement – how cool is that?!
Karin & Chris are both photographers who’ve been together for twenty years, and had planned a big wedding for 2013. They realised their wedding was snowballing into something they didn’t want, so without telling anyone (at all!!) they ran off to Brighton for a rainy afternoon to get married. It was just the two of them – me and the wonderful make-up lady Emma Ashcroft were witnesses, which in itself was the biggest honour! After their simple ceremony at Brighton Registry Office, they held their ‘reception’ – tea and scones for two in super-cute Brighton tea shop Blackbird. Karin wore a stunning vintage dress which had been altered to fit her and she looked gorgeous. They then went off to Sweden for their honeymoon, having told everyone they were just going on holiday. It’s okay though – the secret is out, and Karin & Chris’s family and friends were absolutely delighted for them! And how nice to be able to show them the photographs of the day – I love how that was the one thing they prioritised, and they’ll have a record of their crazy, fun, love-filled wedding day in rainy Brighton! An amazing, original and brave couple – Karin & Chris I salute you!! xxxxxxx
